How this website handles your data — minimal, anonymous, and free of advertising trackers.
This website is a promotional page for the book Polish Your Soul. We respect your privacy and collect as little information as possible. We do not sell or share personal data, and we run no advertising trackers.
To understand how the site performs and which campaigns and regions bring readers, we record anonymous, aggregated activity such as:
Most of this information is aggregated. Where we store your IP address and device details, we do so only for analytics, site security and — for orders placed directly with us — fraud prevention and copyright protection. We do not use them to build advertising profiles, and we never sell or share them.
One important distinction: if you are simply browsing, your IP address is anonymised before it is stored. If you place an order directly with us, we keep the full address and connection details — see Orders Placed Directly With Us below for exactly what and why.
When you visit the site or send a message, our own analytics (running on Cloudflare) records your IP address (always anonymised) and basic device information — your browser, operating system and device type. We use this to understand our audience, measure which campaigns bring readers, and protect the site from abuse. This data is kept private to the publisher, is never sold, and is not shared with advertisers. If you would like your data removed, contact us and we will delete it.
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. A small amount of data is kept only for the duration of your visit (in your browser's session storage) so that a later click can be credited to the campaign you arrived from. It is cleared when you close the tab.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address (and the approximate country and time of signup) solely to send you occasional reflections and news about our books. We ask for your explicit consent first, we never sell or share your address, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also ask us to remove you at any time.
If you use the contact form, we collect the name, email, phone number and message you provide, plus the approximate country of your network. We use these details only to respond to your enquiry. Submissions are stored privately for the publisher and may be emailed to the publisher; they are never sold or shared with third parties. Your phone field is pre-filled with your country's dialling code purely as a convenience — this happens in your browser.
If you submit a review, we collect your name, email, phone number (optional), rating and review text. Reviews are held privately for moderation and are never published until approved. When published, only your name, rating and review text are shown — your email and phone are never made public. We store the approximate country and anonymised network address of the submission to help prevent abuse.
This section applies only if you buy the PDF or the paperback directly on this site. Buying through Amazon is covered by Amazon's own policy.
To take an order we collect your name and email address, your phone number and delivery address for a paperback, and the details of what you bought.
We also record the full technical details of the connection you order from. Unlike our general analytics, this is not anonymised. It includes:
Why: a direct order is a financial transaction and a contract. These records let us prove an order was genuine if a payment is disputed or reversed, detect and prevent fraudulent orders, and identify the source if a personalised copy of the book is redistributed. Every PDF is watermarked with the buyer's name and order number for the same reason.
Our lawful basis is performance of a contract (fulfilling your order) and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and protecting our copyright. This data is visible only to the publisher, is never sold, shared for marketing, or used for advertising profiling.
Payment. Card and UPI details are handled entirely by Razorpay under their own privacy policy — they never reach this website, and we never see or store them. We keep only Razorpay's payment reference so we can match a payment to your order and issue refunds.
To show the correct Amazon marketplace and local price, the site detects your approximate country from your browser timezone and your network's country code (provided by our host, Cloudflare). This stores nothing identifying about you.
When you choose an Amazon edition you are taken to Amazon's own site, and that purchase is governed entirely by Amazon's privacy policy and terms — we receive nothing about it beyond the fact that a link was clicked. Buying directly from us is different and is covered in Orders Placed Directly With Us above.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. These providers may process basic technical request data under their own privacy policies.
If you buy directly from us, two further providers are involved: Razorpay processes your payment (and receives your name, email, phone and payment details directly — they never pass through this site), and Maileroo delivers our transactional emails such as your receipt and download link. Both act under their own privacy policies.
We keep personal data only as long as needed:
You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see below). Note that we may be unable to delete an order record while it is still needed for tax, accounting or an unresolved payment dispute — in that case we will tell you, and delete it once that period ends.
You can browse the site without providing any personal information. If you email us, we use your message only to reply, and keep it no longer than necessary.
